1. Exercise – I really focus on my legs and core. I do this about 5 days a week for about an hour.
2. Eat right – In addition, I intermittently fast for 12-18 hours per day.
3. Win hof method – cold showers and breathing exercises.
4. Learn another language – I spend 10 minutes a day on thus and am really just training my brain. I use duolingo as it is top ratedand free.
5. Brain games – I also do this 10 minutes a day and use BrainHQ. The theory is neuroplasticity. I use the free version.

I loved amusement parks as a kid, but I haven’t gone in a long time! Guess that will change soon as I have a 3 year old boy.

In Austin we get tornados and flash floods. Basically I need a plan in case of these events. Although in your situation May be you should evacuate?
-
I wear as little as possible.

Bowling sucks. My balance is bad on 1 foot, so I use bumpers and a device to help roll the ball.
That device would work for wheelchair users too.

Movie: The Upside
Book: Blue Zones…although I have read 15+ books this year on anti aging/sleep/nutrition or exercise and I take nuggets from each book.
Online: Terry Wahls Ted Talk on Feeding Mitochondria.

Sweat…noy swear.
But I sweat a lot too, like a sailor.
-
I swear A LOT! When I work out…I drip.
I think sweating is unique to each person.

I know in the Austin airport they have “pet restrooms”. I don’t know what’s in them though.
You should come here and tell me!
-
Thank you! I am so honored and hope to do great things and spread awareness.

Generally my wife gets me what I want. While it is possible for me to get my own…if there is multiple plates involved or soup or silverware or napkins it makes it impossible for me. Also if the walk to the buffet has stairs…fotget about it!

Educated opinion…lol!
I fully expected Matt to calls on that one, and point out his Masters degree.
-
Keep him leashed at the office all the time for a week to teach him. He should be fine after that…in my in-educatedopinion.

I personally hate crowds as I bumped in to strangers from time to time…but this event sounds cool!

Lol…personally I have no problem with either. When ai was in Chicago only used them (I didn’t have a car). To me, it’s jst an opportunity to educate someone new about Ataxia. I generally, talk about it…before people ask.
-
This is not very relevant to me as I still walk unassisted…do I vote absolutely!
-
I tell everybody to start working and eating right. Ataxia is so much easier to deal with, when you aren’t fighting another struggle with your weight!
Also if you are active before…Ive found it a lot easier to find motivations to still be active.

Ok…so after a few weeks how is it?
Is a service dog really helping?

So I study an research a number of things that may be beneficial. One of which is anti-aging. A TON of stuff applies to us.
A major concept in that community is “Hormesis”. which is a biological phenomenon whereby a beneficial effect (improved health, stress tolerance, growth or longevity) results from exposure to low doses of an agent that is otherwise toxic or lethal when given at higher doses. The philosophy of Hormetism, advocated in this blog, is based upon harnessing this biological phenomenon in a deliberate and systematic way in order to increase strength and resilience.
Basically what doesn’t kill you, makes you stronger.
So I truly believe that allowing someone to struggle to a point, is actually the best thing for them.
Just like carloie restriction to an extent makes you live longer. Too much will kill you though!

I still walk, but the sand saps ALL the energy I have put of my legs.
On my honeymoon I had to nap everyday right after we walked on the beach, just to be able to move the rest of the day!
