Slurred speech is a common symptom of Friedreich’s Ataxia. It can be frustrating for a patient to get their words out or to feel like they have a voice, or to be understood.

Has anyone else done voice banking or used text-to-speech software?

I’d like to hear more about this. My speech has gotten so bad lately even my husband and kids are having a lot of trouble understanding me. My husband has gotten good at lip reading. Well
As long as there’s light. I think going to a therapist would be good for me, but my speech l to far gone it’s not really possible

Please share your experience(s) if you do see a speech therapist! I hope it is beneficial for you.

I’m looking into a therapist for my slurred speech, but am concerned it will never improve because of the Ataxia. I’m currently looking for copywriting work but can’t get through the interview process. So does a therapist help?
