This past weekend, I attended the Friedreich’s Ataxia Symposium hosted by FARA (Friedreich’s Ataxia Research Alliance) and CHOP (Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia).

After not being able to attend in-person events due to the pandemic, it was great to connect with old and new FAmily members, and learn all the progress of current and upcoming research!

It was amazing to see that 71 attendees were there for the first time. It makes me sad to see new members because it means that they were introduced to the world of FA. But at the same time, it makes me happy to relate to and be a support to these new families because we are a strong community and are in this fight together!

How do you manage meeting new FAmily members? Do you have any advice or tips for how to get started with resources, getting involved, etc.?
