Not only is my wife’s neurologist extremely well informed about FA but he goes the extra mile often…..he has personally ran out and caught is in the parking lot because he needed to explain a something . He also has often called us personally on Saturdays and even a couple times on Sundays either to explain things or apologize about delayed response for prescriptions etc.
We had an unfortunate incident with an ER visit. She had extreme numbness and pins and needles in her hands leaving her hands completely unusable. We went to multiple neurologists and many tests and they all said it was carpal tunnel….happened in both hands at the same time which we told them all and even though that never happens they still said it was carpal tunnel….it was this neurologist that proved it wasn’t and fixed my wife’s hands in one visit…..because he understands FA.
You would think the average neurologist would at least understand a little about FA but that isn’t so….many don’t know anything about it and at least I got the impression they don’t want to know.
We have to travel considerably farther to see him but it is well worth it. And he understands this and does everything he can to get everything done in one visit.
