Slurred speech can be a common symptom of FA. For those with FA, we can experience difficulty getting words out/getting them out clearly when speaking. It can also become tiring when having to repeat your train of thought.

Do you or anyone you know use dictation software? Google is a great tool with emails, documents, etc. There is also this app, iScribe Health, that is well-known.

Hi Christina. I’m not very good at this forum stuff. There’s just so much good stuff and I’d like to reply to everything but I just don’t have the time or motivation. Yes my speech is slurring and I absolutely hate it. It’s kind of new for me Even though it’s probably been going on before I realized. I’m very self conscious about it because I try hard to give people the impression I have a problem or that it bothers me. Is there any therapy that helps improve it or that I can do on my own?

Hi Dave! It’s so nice to connect with you! Let me know if you have any issues with navigating the forums!

I am sorry to hear that you are experiencing the symptoms of slurred speech. I know the apps that I mentioned are great tools and techniques that you can do on your own!

I don’t think my speech is too bad but I am very conscious of it. I notice it more if I’m fatigued. FA sucks!

Fatigue can definitely alter it! I try to take my time when speaking to get my words out and clearly.
