Acceptance of FA
When it comes to being diagnosed with a rare disease such as FA, it’s not only difficult to accept the diagnosis yourself, but family and friends may have a hard time too.
For me, sometimes it’s been difficult dealing with my diagnosis and explaining what I go through on a daily basis to my family. I can empathize because they don’t live with me and see what I go through every day, but at the same time, it’s very frustrating that the support is not there emotionally. I feel like I am the one living with that disease, and that they accept the fact that I have it as well.
Do your family and friends accept FA? What are some of the biggest hurdles you have faced when it comes to explaining your diagnosis?
