July is designated as Disability Pride Month due to it being the anniversary of the Americans with Disability Act (ADA) being signed into law. This law protects the rights of people with disabilities against employment discrimination, while fostering inclusion in society.
The idea of disability pride is rooted in the issue of visibility and inclusion in everyday life.
