I am a 62 year old female diagnosed with FA through genetic testing – I believe I started having symptoms when I was 56 or 57. My balance is bad, I can’t run, I can’t walk on an uneven surface or up or down a hill, FA has negatively affected my vision and my hearing. I retired as I can no longer drive to work and am applying for a disability pension.
I thank God I didn’t get this when I was younger as that would be truly devastating!

it is less than a year since I received a diagnosis but I've had symptoms for more than 5 years.
