Coming to Terms with Reality, Yet Hoping for a Cure
Matthew Lafleur was diagnosed with Friedreich’s ataxia almost 20 years ago, and at that time he had hope that his disease would not progress to the point of slurred speech or needing a wheelchair. He was wrong, but that doesn’t mean he’s lost faith in the research community’s search for a cure, nor is he any less thankful for tools like the Internet that have made it easier for him to connect with other FAers.
