I was diagnosed as having FA in 2001 at age 58.  At that time I was a professor at the University of California-Davis but retired in 2008 due to effects of FA.

I have been taking Skyclarys for over 3 months thanks to Medicare.  So far I find its ability to relieve any symptoms underwhelming.  I prefer its old name, Omaveloxolone.  At least if I say it fast 10 times every day it marginally relieves my slurred speech.
