Genetic testing can help determine the chance of passing on the FA gene. For FA parents (being carriers) or patients living with FA who are thinking of starting a family, testing can help make reproductive decisions based on genetic results.
If there is a known mutation in the family that you are at risk of inheriting, finding out your genetic status will allow you to make more informed reproductive choices like IVF, egg donation, adoption, prenatal testing, etc.
