Specific surgical procedures may be of benefit to patients with FA who experience severe cases of curvature of the spine (scoliosis) and/or foot deformities. Both types of these surgeries can help provide a level of comfort and increase physical functionality.

There is also surgery to help with swallowing difficulties. A feeding tube replacement allows patients to receive adequate nutrition.

Has anyone here or their loved one with FA undergone any of these surgeries?

I have not but I’m thinking of foot surgery but I’m worried about being laid up for weeks recovering. Has anyone else had FA foot surgery?

I know, I hear the recovery can be a lot. But I wonder if enduring it is worth it in the end?
