My father was military, so we lived in Fort Benning Georgia, Germany, enterprise Alabama, and Fort Knox Kentucky before he was discharged. We, family, moved back to their hometown of Booneville, which is the poorest county in the entire US, Owsley County. I went to an graduated from Owsley County High School in 1982. Our class size was 52. After graduating, I moved to Lexington and became a Personal Care Aide for Student with Disabilities. I Found out about Friedereich’s Ataxia= my supervisor wanted me to have an appointment with a neurologist because of my gait. I was around 28 years old. I am now 58 and am severely disabled with walk, movement, and speech problems.
