I don’t have any problems working out, My my worst fear is Romanian deadlifts.I once lost my balance while doing them and weights fell on my feet. I took a break for more than 1 month and I was only doing other exercises. Also Anderson Squats(squats with a wight bar) as I lost my balance while doing them. After these 2 accidents I prefer working out mostly on machines rather on the free weights. I hope this has helped in failing frequently. These are my 2 worst fears for now.

I used to be very lean and I am very active person until 21 Y.O. Then my friends used to complain about my walking style(the drunkard like walk). then I started working out(almost 2-3 hrs a day🏋️‍♂️) thinking that my walk will be corrected, Fortunately my friends stopped complaining. During my workouts I gained a lot of muscle. I almost gained 15 Kgs(33 Lbs) which made me look heavier💪. So, I and my friends thought my walk was corrected.
After 5 years I stopped working out and this is when I started seeing the symptoms. I am 28 now and I started going to gym after my diagnosis. I FEEL MORE STABLE ON THE DAY I WORKED OUT WHEN COMPARED TO THE DAY I DIDN’T.
I conveyed the same to my neurologist and he said that there are some studies which back-up the fact that FA progression will be slowed-down if we start workout. But one some days I feel fatigued when I am working out, during that time I will get on a recumbent. I think it should be easier for most of us(FAers). So I would say stay as active as you can and WORKOUT 🚶‍♂️🏋️‍♂️.

During my recent visit to ophthalmologist, I was said that I had perfect vision 20/20 but I said that I have a problem with the low light walk, for which my doctor replied that it might be because the neuromuscular disease I have.I am doing nothing very special to manage this, but I genuinely feel that meditation is helping me (I started meditating just a month ago).
I FEEL MEDITATION IS GOOD FOR FA’er. I request everyone to give a try.

For me it took 2 months and I have visited 1 neurologist and told him that my brother has FA. So she evaluated me and ordered a genetic test. But on the other hand my brother(who lives in India) spend more than 6 yrs and visited almost 10 different neurologist’s before the diagnosis.
He was taken to almost all neurologist’s through out the country before he was diagnosed with FA.Finally in 2013, this sad news struck our family. But things become normal and we slowly accustomed living with FA.

Hope my answer is to the point.😊

My elder brother has FA and was diagnosed 7 yrs back where as I was diagnosed very recently in 2020.
Mine is considered as Late Onset and mine is a whole different story. My Brother lives in India and get good care from my parents where as I work in USA alone. I’ve seen my brother’s symptoms very closely(while they are devoloping) in the past and seeing the same symptoms in me.
I’m not there with him to cope with him or help him out but I will do regular exercise which will slow down my symptoms(I feel) and I will advise him about the exercises and also my parents about the care they need to give..

That definitely could be asked in a better way. I prefer to answer as short as possible if someone asked me the same question and in the same way.
I would have answered that FA is a genetic disorder which gradually takes off the balance and ability walk without giving the full details of the complications.
