Click here to read Frankie Perazzola’s thoughts on how living with a life-altering disease like Friedreich’s ataxia has impacted her friendships.

How has FA affected the relationships in your own life? Have you lost friends since your diagnosis, or are your friendships stronger than ever?

FA a has been responsible for me not having close friends. I wouldn’t necessarily say I have no friends though. Life has taken it’s course and most friends have their family now so we’ve just faded away from our friendships. Now I’m making new friends that last a lifetime!

It has taken away most of my friendships but mostly by my choice, sure a few of them have families and we have grown apart but on the other hand I don’t socialize and carry on, I am more concerned with my health, eating healthier don’t hardly drink anymore (socializing) more concerned with tomorrow and just dealing with everyday struggles, all ready had a heart attack and I am only 47, just grateful and blessed I am! I know so many others that have life allot worse 😇
