Poor blood flow and circulation can cause foot swelling when living with FA. Finding the right shoe and practicing daily regimes to take care of yourself, such as elevating your feet when you can, helps lessen the risk of swollen feet.

Do you have any shoe brand recommendations or helpful tips that you practice to eliminate this?

Don’t know if everyone is this way but the hotter it gets the more my wife’s feet swell so when it’s hot she wears socks that help keep her feet cool ….works much better than compression socks.

Also found lightly massaging her calfs helps….diabetic eucerin cream helps as well and gets the massage at the same time….just be careful of sunburn with the eucerin though….seems to amplify the burn.

She used to wear custom made braces and over time we found not only did the braces make her feet worse but it made the swelling much worse….even after I drilled many holes for ventilation….good fitting shoes and tying them together helps more than the braces ever did.
