As columnist Matthew Lafleur looks forward to celebrating Mardi Gras, he reflects on his dual identity as a person with Friedreich’s ataxia and someone with Cajun heritage. Click here to read more from Matthew.

Can you relate to Matthew? Do you also live with a “dual identity”?

The difficulties of living with FA and celebrating holidays, traditions or whatever it may be. I’m learning to embrace the fact that I celebrate with obvious challenge but in the end I celebrate. As I read your article Matt I was like “yup I’ve felt that”. What’s on my bucket list is going to a Mardi gras parade and try a fresh king cake!
